Audiology Unlimited is the private practice of Dr. Kathy Mellott, Doctor of Audiology. Dr. Mellott has been in private practice since 1993. Complete audiological and hearing aid services are provided at both locations for all ages. The College Park Hearing location closed in September 2019.
Video otoscopy is available at all three offices, as are complete hearing and hearing aid services. Electro-physiological testing is only available in the Silver Spring office, including electronystagmography (ENG) and evoked potentials (ABR and ECochG).. Sedation is available, if needed for these test with small children.
The Silver Spring office is shared with Dr. Robert Baumgartner, Otolaryngologist. Joint appointments with ENT and Audiology are available all day Tuesdays and Wednesday and Friday mornings only.
Audiology Unlimited works with about a dozen hearing aid manufacturers to provide many options for our patients. All hearing aids dispensed are digital and programmable. Most hearing aids are essentially invisible in the ear. Dr. Mellott provides state-of-the-art amplification systems and is knowledgeable in technology for using hearing aids with television, telephones, cell phones and other electronic devices.
Most older makes and models can be repaired through the All-Make Repair lab and hearing aid insurance is available for loss and damage coverage. Emtech Laboratories is used, almost exclusively, for earmolds and earplugs, for swimming and noise reduction. Musician's earplugs are available, custom-made or in the one-size style known as ER-20's.
The hearing aid manufacturers include, but are not limited to:
- Signia (formerly Siemens)
Beltone, Miracle Ear, and Audibel hearing aids can be repaired, but not reprogrammed due to proprietary limitations.
